list of superstitions

Good luck superstitions

Good Luck: If you keep your FINGERS CROSSED evil spirits would be prevented from destroying our chances of good fortune.

TOUCH WOOD - It was believed that good spirits lived in trees, and by touching anything made from wood, we could call upon these spirits for protection against misfortune.

 Sneezing 3 times before breakfast

Looking at the new moon over your right shoulder

 A 4-leaf clover

Spilling wine while proposing a toast

9 peas in a pea pod

 A horseshoe or Peacock feathers

Picking up a pencil in the street

 Avoiding cracks in the sidewalk

 A ladybug on you

New enterprises will be fortunate if begun at the time of the new moon.

 Dolphins swimming nearby a ship

See a penny, pick it up; all day long you will have good luck.

When we have wishes and wants it to be reality and its is click in our mind and that point someone sneeze, meaning our wishes come TRUE

 Bad Luck superstitions

Friday the Thirteenth :Friday the Thirteenth Christ was crucified on Friday and the number of guests at the party of the Last Supper was 13, with the 13th guest being Judas, the traitor. Therefore it is thought that evils spirits are strong on Friday the thirteen.

Walking under a ladder - A leaning ladder forms a triangle with the wall and ground. Triangles represent the Holy Trinity, and violating the Trinity by breaking it (walking through it) would put you in league with the devil himself.

A black cat crossing your path

A bat flying into the house

 An owl hooting 3 times

Looking at the new moon over your left shoulder

 A 5-leaf clover

Breaking a glass while proposing a toast

Putting a shirt on inside out

 Red and white flowers together

Hearing a rooster crow at night

Cutting your nails on a Friday

Putting a hat on a bed

Getting out of bed left foot first

 Violets blooming out of season

 A picture falling

 Breaking a mirror

 Opening an umbrella indoors

Sneezing while venturing out for some auspicious job

Wedding Superstitions

If the groom drops the wedding band during the ceremony, the marriage is doomed.

The new bride must enter her home by the main door, and must not trip or fall.

The spouse who goes to sleep first on the wedding day will be the first to die.

If a single woman sleeps with a piece of wedding cake under her pillow, she will dream of her future husband.

Take a photograph of the one you love and hold before it a ring on the end of a thread. Be careful to keep your hand still. If the ring moves in a circle, you win marry the person in the picture soon and will lead a life of bliss; if the ring moves to and fro, it is unlikely you will marry him. Should the ring not move at all, you are likely to remain single.

 General Superstitions

You must knock on wood 3 times after mentioning good fortune or the evil spirits will ruin things for you.

See a penny, pick it up; all day long you’ll have good luck.

Don’t break a mirror, or you’ll have seven years bad luck.

Don’t walk under a ladder, or somebody will have an accident.

To cut bread in an uneven manner is a sign that you have been telling lies.

The best time for cutting one's corns is when the Moon is on the wane.

If a front door does not face the street, ill luck will attend the house. You should always close a front door with your face towards it.

IF YOU BELIEVE IN A SUPERSTITION, IT WILL ALWAYS FOLLOW YOU!

Dosti shayad zindgi hoti hai,
Jo har dil mein basi hoti hai,
Waise to jee lete hai sabhi akele magar,
Phir bhi zarurat inki har kisi ko hoti hai..!!

Tanha ho kabhi to mujko dhundna,
duniya se nahi apne dil se poochna,
Aas pas hi kahi base rahte hai hum,
yaado se nahi saath guzare lamho se puchna..!!

Khawaish Hi Nahi Alfaaz Ki,
Chahat Ko To Zarurat Hai Bas Ehsaas Ki,
Paas Hote To Manzar Hi Kya Hota,
Door Se Khabar Hai Hume Aapki Har Saans Ki..!!

Kaun keta hai ke Accha log Mar ke sitare ban jate hai,
Hum tho yeh mante hai ke sitare tot ke Aap jaise dost banjate hai..

Arranged Marriage VS Love Marriage

Arrenged marriage

The usual opinion is that arranged marriages happen only in the east but this was not always so arranged marriages were happening even in Victorian Europe. With the industrial revolution and the end of the 2 world wars people's attitudes and perceptions started changing as women started to join the workforce and they started to demand for their rights. In England for example most of the kings and queens had arranged marriages

And besides popular love lore like Soni Mahiwal, India always had a long tradition of arranged marriages. In India, while India is very modernized in some aspects , they still keep to the tradition  of arranged marriages. In India it is an accepted fact that a person's family will play a role in picking the marriage partner. most Indian people like arrange marriage. In India our parents choose our spouse.

Arranged marriages  offer more protection, security to the women. There is not much pressure on the women to look like models. Parents employ maturity and wise judgment when choosing suitable spouses for their children. Sometimes it helps to rely on another person's opinion and experience when selecting one's partner especially when the people marrying are young and need guidance and advice in marrying a suitable person.

While to people who belive in western culture , this might sound odd. It is important to remember that in Indian society an arranged marriage is seen as an act of love. Since marriage is one of the most important decisions a person will ever make and because divorce is not accepted among most Indians, it is imperative that the marriage choice is carefully thought out and planned.

Often, this turns into an interview process where photos are provided of the boy/girl in question along with bio-data about his/her life and family. If that meets with approval, arrangements will be made for the parents to meet the boy/girl and their family. Traditionally, however, the bride and groom would not even see each other until the day of their wedding. Today, while most marriages are still arranged, times are changing. There is usually a small courtship period where the bride and groom can meet and talk under the careful watch of a guardian. Also, if either one of the two do not want the marriage, it is likely to be cancelled. Very few family's today "force" marriages upon their children.

But this does not mean arranged marriages are the ideal sort of marriages. Having an arranged does not mean that the married couple remains happily ever after or that there is harmony in the relationship. Women have been known to stay on in abusive relationships for the sake of family pride, respect in society etc. Even in an arranged marriage there is a different sort of pressure to be fair-skinned and beautiful. In India the evil of dowry, caste and community issues and the concept of matching horoscopes, sometimes taken to its extreme levels have contributed much to the argument against arranged marriages

Love marriage

We are all familiar with the story : boy meets girl, they fall in love   and they get married.   This is called love marriage.
Love marriages are as happy as sunny days, and all their memories are dear to you and they are held in your mind like in a priceless album. They might be the day you met for the first time – you sometimes remember even the clothes you wore that day, the love songs you used to listen together, the birth of your first child, the day your child said “mum” or “dad” for the first time, and after that one memory after the other can fill your life. And when you are old you can say that you haven’t lived in vain, that your life was happy.
It is said that each of us has a soul mate, and we don’t have to look for it, because it is God’s job. Hinduism promotes the theory of reincarnation. They say that we all meet our soul mate at least once during one life, and the final purpose of a human is to remake the initial sphere, made of both male and female soul. And those who are not able to get married during one life, maybe they will be able during their next life. Anyway, all of this is speculation.
Love marriage is more concrete, it is easier, and all the steps to the altar are natural, without obstacles. Love is not just chemical reaction during the sexual act. It is something deeper. When you really love a person, your soul vibrates in the same time with his or her soul. His or her problems are yours, and you can’t do anything without both agreeing.
One of the usual questions against an arranged marriage is that how can you marry somebody you don't know. Knowing somebody before marriage allows partners to have better respect and understanding for each other's needs and desires. This way they are better adjusted in the marriage when they finally take their wedding vows.

But not all love marriages have happy endings. Sometimes discord arises even in love marriages.
It is argued that love marriages offer more independence and freedom as compared to arranged marriages but we all know that the excess of anything is dengarous.

And there are more chance of cheating .becoz  in love marriage we don’t try to know about their family and other thing  and it is not always happen that the person whom we love tell all about him is always true
And the most important thing  how can a young person make such an important decision on his/her own? if anybody take a wrong decision his life will be a mass.

now after descussing about both
It becomes difficult  to predict the ideal sort of marriage. So ultimately it is up to the individual to decide whether he wants to have a love or an arranged marriage .I think that the most important thing to make a mariiage succesful is love and understanding.
